1.   Cola  reducida,  no visible;  antebrazo mayor de 70 mm;  hoja nasal  y  su “herradura” (borde  inferior)
      elevado  formando  una  profunda  copa  con  un  anillo  completo  alrededor  de  las  aberturas nasales 
      /  Tail  reduced,  not visible;  forearm  more  than   70 mm;   nose  leaf  and  horse shoe  (lower  margin) 
      elevated forming an upright cup around the nostrils-------------------------------------------Chrotopterus auritus
1’.  Cola  presente y visible; antebrazo menor de 70 mm; hoja nasal no forma un anillo completo  alrededor

2.   Cola se  extiende casi hasta el borde libre del uropatagio, donde se une con una serie  de placas carac-

3’.  Tamaño  menor, antebrazo menor de 36 mm; orejas unidas en la frente por medio de una banda; cuatro
      incisivos  inferiores   /  Size  smaller,  forearm  less  than  36   mm;  ears  joined  on  the  forehead  by a
